How The Moment House uses your selfie and your photos. Consent text version 1.

Your selfie

When you search for your photos, your selfie is used once to find the photos you appear in at that one event. It is deleted straight after the search. We never save it, and we never use it for anything else.

Face data

To make searching possible, we turn each face in the event photos into a face template: a set of numbers, not a picture. Face templates are sensitive personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

  • Each event has its own face data. We never search across events.
  • We never use face data for marketing or to train any system.
  • Face data is deleted 90 days after the gallery is published, or sooner if the gallery closes.
  • If you choose “keep looking for new photos of me”, we keep a face template from your selfie (not the photo itself) until then. Untick it at any time and we delete it straight away.

Children

Photo search is for people aged 18 and over. Parents and guardians get photos of their children through the event host.

Your contact details

If you give us a phone number or email (to keep looking for photos, to get your photos on another phone, or when you buy), we use it only for that event and delete it 30 days after the gallery closes, unless we must keep a payment record.

Where your data is kept

  • Photos are stored with Cloudflare R2, so they may be held outside Nigeria.
  • Face matching runs on our server (a Railway data centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands). No other company sees your selfie or face data.
  • Face data is never copied into our off-site backups.
  • Payments are handled by Paystack. We send them your email and the amount; we never see or keep your card details.
  • The gallery for an event closes 90 days after it is published, and the photos are then removed.

Your choices

  • Face search is optional. Event highlights are there for everyone.
  • You can ask for photos of you to be removed, and for your face to be excluded from matching, at any time. We act on requests within 72 hours.
